About Our Organization

Who We Are

Tallahassee Region Environmental Group, Inc. (TREG) is a dedicated environmental, bi-partisan, non-profit organization focusing on water quality issues within the Tallahassee Region. Our core goals include promoting Education, conducting Research, advocating for Government Transparency, and empowering Citizen Advocacy. Through active community engagement, we aim to bring positive change and ensure a sustainable future for the region from South Georgia to the Gulf Coast within the Tallahassee Region.

Our Board of Directors consist of biologists, educators, scientists, and local environmentalists.  Our members come from all walks of life with the common concern of water quality within the Tallahassee Region.

We research such things as sewage spills through our Florida Sewage Spill website used by environmentalists, legislators, scientists, students, and others throughout Florida and, we dare say, across the country!

Additionally, our very popular and extensive Arc-GIS geographical website  provides an immediate perspective of water quality data in proximity to water bodies, contaminated sites, neighborhoods, sewage spills, basins, census tracts, etc. and with the help of FSU and other volunteers, information increases regularly!

Our governmental transparency efforts produce considerable conversations with local politicians and staff, plus, public records (at substantial costs, unfortunately) to better understand local governments' history of environmental regulatory compliance, enforcement issues, efforts to improve environmental issues, and our desire to work with them.

Water quality education within our local school system and citizens is an utmost priority as we feel education leads to a public better informed on water quality from which they can then advocate.

Pubic advocacy includes assisting citizens concerned with water quality issues in their neighborhoods including sewage spills flowing on properties, Harmful Algal Blooms in area water bodies and related health issues, etc.

Naturally, volunteers are greatly needed to help with these efforts as your expertise is much appreciated.  Come join us as a volunteer and a member. (BROCHURE-can print, complete membership/donation form and mail with check)

Together, we can make a difference.

Education

Our Goals

IMG_4948.HEIC

Our educational programs aim to raise awareness and provide knowledge on water quality issues in our schools and with citizens. We will conduct workshops, seminars, and training sessions to empower individuals to protect our water resources.

Research

Through scientific research, we deepen our understanding of water quality challenges and work towards innovative solutions. Our research projects focus on identifying pollution sources and implementing effective conservation strategies.

Advocacy

We advocate for policies that prioritize water quality protection and ensure environmental sustainability. By engaging with policymakers and the community, we strive to influence positive change and create a healthier environment for all.

Transparency

We believe governments should be transparent in all its activities, especially, those involving the environment; particularly concerning citizen health stemming from water quality.  Likewise, Public Record Requests should be easily filled and inexpensive, if any cost at all.
